How are you doing with these ideas? Having more fun yet? This one is my all time favorites and the times i have spoken on this topic i get the most feedback that it works well. I have found that people want to be valued. They want to feel important at the office and what better way than to treat someone to lunch. Doing lunch has been a business practice for centuries! More business is conducted over lunch than you would believe. It’s is no different in church business! Ministers meet with chair persons, other staff members, church members, leaders, and so on to discuss business and enjoy the setting.
Your staff want the same benefit of enjoying a leisure meal and to feel valued and important. I call this one Fun Lunch Day!
FUN LUNCH DAY
It usually happens at random on a day that i deem is badly needed. I look around the office and maybe a huge project has been undertaken or it was a very busy morning or the past week was a real bear. You’ll know the right timing! I load the whole office up in a church van if you have one and cart them all to a fun restaurant for lunch. Once i even made up funny tickets that were their boarding pass for the church van. At the set time i round them all up in the office, have the van cooled and ready, and there greeting them in the van and taking up their tickets. It’s fun and crazy! I usually even drive the van for them!
There is no agenda, just let it all fall in place and they visit and chat and enjoy a great lunch together. I have see many times that they end up sitting by someone in the office they may not know very well. That all changes after this! Pay for the meal and tell them how much you appreciate their work. This idea goes a long way for your respect and attitiude in the office. Enjoy!
