Welcome Time at Church “Shook” Everyone Up

shaking handsIt was my time to greet and welcome everyone at church last night. We rotate around thru the staff for many parts of the service each week. You know, the prayer time, the offering, and the greeting time or welcome as some call it. Our Sunday night service is very casual and runs about 150-200 on any given Sunday evening. There was already a buzz in the air that evening from the morning services that were incredible and exciting.

When you are in charge of the Welcome part of the service at our church you go up to the mic and smile and greet everyone! You ask if there are visitors and if so please fill out the card in the bulletin so we have a record of your visit. Then you ask everyone to stand and greet those around you.

Well, little did i know i was going to “shake” things up a bit that night. I stood and smiled and greeted the guests and then casually instructed everyone.

“Let’s all stand now and ~shake~ each other”

It only took a few seconds, not realizing what i said, walking off the stage to see the church “shaking each other” making light of my mistake in wording. It was quite a picture to see it ! Everyone taking the person next to them, kids and all, and “shaking” their whole body.

That’s one for the blooper book~
