Here is where all this social media can really be fun! Today is my birthday and I started receiving phone calls on my cell phone at 7am. By the time I got out of the shower I had 4 missed calls. I checked my voice mail and heard four people sing me happy birthday. Cool! During my drive to the office I received 4 more calls with people singing me the song. During the morning at the office I received calls every 5 minutes! Ok, these were from people all over the US, friends from years ago, neighbors from old homes, old staff members from previous churches! Something was up! It was very fun at this point talking to people all morning. I got three calls while in the restroom.
I checked my Facebook page and had dozens of birthday wishes there also! But my birthday is posted on my page. Of course when I called my wife she played dumb! The truth came out at lunch with her though. She has sent emails out to everyone to call me and sing happy birthday! It worked and was it fun.
You couldn’t do that 10 years ago! Social media has connected us with so many friends from the past and now today was a real blessing. Oh and to top it off she had some funny photos mad of me with my face inserted!
