Government, Free Enterprise, and Church…what’s the difference!

frustratedMaybe i need to add a new category for my blog called VENTING! LOL! For now i’ll just post it under RANDOM. It just makes me sick that government run organizations do not give a rip about customer service, but our countries leader wants us to buy in to government health care? Excuse me but I want customer service!

GOVERNMENT
It took me three try’s to get my drivers license renewed. Ok, so i waited until it expired and could not renew on line! My bad! I go to the DMV the first time and they don’t take debit or credit. I had no cash on me! The second try I was number 24 and they were on number 10 and I had already waited 30 minutes, so I left! The third try I arrived on at 8.05 am. They opened at 8.00 am. I was number 24 at 8.05am??? There were already people there just sitting around with nothing happening. There were 5-6 ladies behind the counter talking. Everyone in the room was getting upset. I waited over an hour and finally my number was called. She had to take my thumb print and picture twice! NO smile, NO conversation, they do not care!

FREE ENTERPRISE
I stopped on the way home at Sears to pick up my weed eater I left for repair. You walk in the door and enter your last name on the computer and with in minutes someone comes out to help. There is a sign on the wall that says their average customer wait time the day before was 2.5 minutes! The sign also says that the have served 98% of  customers in less than 5 minutes…their goal! They are proud to display that and focus on customer service. I had the weed eater in a matter on minutes and was on my way home.

CHURCH
Let’s apply that to the church office. When someone comes in to your office are they greeted with a huge smile and are their needs met quickly? Or, do you make them wait and spend a long time trying to figure out who is going to help them. Are they greeted as they come in the door? Subway does that! I believe the church should be different than both government and free enterprise! We should care and strive to help people with a passion. The front office should be a place anyone can come to and get greeted and served the best way possible. Life is a series of lessons to be learned and applied.

How does your church office operate? Like government or free enterprise or like a church should?
