Whatwouldyoudo? Part 2

This entry is part 2 of 3 in the series Church Adventures

taxi

Another trip adventure was going to Newark, NJ on the way to Seattle, WA. Crazy as it may sound we departed from DFW to Newark and spent one night there. We then took a flight the next day to Seattle. It was late night once we arrived to Newark and now had to line up transportation from the airport to the hotel. We tried several avenues that just did not work out well. We finally ended up just taking a taxi for $45. The drive to the hotel was at least a 45-minute run and we had no idea where we were at, being dark.

You know the scene just outside the airport where the taxis line up begging for your business. We took the first one we saw and hopped in the taxi. We did not notice there was no company name on the car just a number or something. The driver had a passenger up front and the whole way they talked between themselves in Jamaican. We felt invisible!

We did make it to the right hotel, checked in, and went to the room. Carting our entire luggage and exhausted from the days travel and diversion to a new destination, we unlocked the door, dropped the bags and let out a big sigh of relief!

That is when it happened! I placed my hands on my hip in relief and noticed…my cell phone was missing. I mean not missing but gone…the clip, phone, and holder!  I went back down to the hotel lobby and asked if they had a list of taxi services hoping to locate the one we used. I ended up calling my phone and the taxi driver answered. Thank God, he had my phone! He offered to bring it back to me with no problem…for another $45!

What would you do in this situation? Comments?  Discussion?
