You Think Your Job Is Tough?

problemsYou think your job is tough! How would you like to administrate recalling millions of cars that have the potential of a sticking gas pedal? Toyota Camry’s sitting on the lots of car dealerships have to be set aside and not sold until the problem is rectified. The trust factor of Toyota fell significantly after the recall from millions of car owners. Who wants to drive a car that may cause you to have a wreck and plow into someone or something?

Think for a moment of the logistics of recalling millions of cars all over the country. That would be overwhelming to say the least. Their sole focus right now and for the next 12 months will be on this problem. What a mess!

I know as church business administrators, we have rough days and maybe even rough weeks. The budget process does not go well; half the congregation does not like the new schedule; you find a glitch in your database; office problems; people problems; things are just not going your way for some reason.

Here are 5 things you can do to put things into perspective

  • Know that problems will happen and things will go wrong! I always say first fix the problem and then clean the mess up later.
  • Know you are not the only one with problems and challenges and no yours is not the worst.
  • Know that when things go wrong it not always your fault. Many circumstances play into problems, especially when you are dealing with a mass of people like a church setting.
  • Know where to start quickly and get the job done instead of displacing blame or trying to figure out what happened.
  • Know from the problem that they are learning points in your job and can be beneficial in most cases.

Always remember to lighten up and get through your day with a smile at the end!

Your comments? What do you do to get through problems?
